Color Square iPhone Photos

1971.jpg

For a few years, I used to photograph people on the subway with my iPhone. I never really felt that comfortable with it. I felt a bit like I was intruding. For a few years, I was very bold about it. I like the intensity in some of these photos. They are almost claustrophobic.

Two things happened though. My wife Lenora passed away. I felt vulnerable and lost some of my nerve. And about ten months later was Covid lockdown and I didn’t even ride the subway for a year.

By the time lockdown was over, I couldn’t take these kinds of photographs anymore. People were too suspicious. I was too suspicious. I lost my nerve.

These photographs are a window in time.
