Black & White Film

book29.jpg

From 1985 until 2012, I photographed exclusively in film. But the digital revolution started and I was daunted by making the leap. I was kind of stuck in my ways even though film was expensive. Fewer places were carrying it. And I hated film chemicals and didn’t think they were good for my health. I wanted to go digital but I wasn't sure where to start.

One day in 2012, a photographer friend and great pizza maestro Jerry Arcieri told me he switched to digital. He told me: “You are going to love it! It has your name all over it!” I said I didn’t know what camera to get. He replied: “I am going to make this easy for you and send links.” And so he did.

And I have never looked back. I didn’t have to wait to get around to developing film or going to the darkroom. I got instant results. And I was more prolific and it was cheap. These are just a handful of my New York black and white street shots.
